Why submit AU and AR data?
Beginning January 1, 2025, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) updated the Promoting Interoperability (PI) Program concerning Antimicrobial Use (AU) and Resistance (AR) reporting. The Antimicrobial Use and Antimicrobial Resistance measure are now split out. Eligible hospitals and critical access hospitals (CAHs) must demonstrate active engagement with the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) for both AU and AR measures separately.
