NHSN Antimicrobial Use and Resistance (AUR)

Why submit AUR data?
Starting in 2024, AUR reporting will be required under the CMS Promoting Interoperability Program. Eligible hospitals are required to submit both Antimicrobial Use (AU) and Antimicrobial Resistance (AR) data to NHSN.
Submitting also allows hospitals to receive risk-adjusted comparisons with other locations and facilities, improve their Leapfrog Hospital Safety grade, and follow evidence-based practices and CDC guidelines.
